Social Media 2
Evolutionary and Historical Trends of Sexual Attitudes Essay Social media is any form of media that humans use to social network. This can include talking to family or keeping up with celebrity gossip. When looking at social media from the surface, it may seem like it is not a big deal. On a deeper level, social media influences humans in so many ways. One of the biggest ways is sexuality. When using social media to view celebrity gossip, a person will find plastic surgery, who’s sleeping with who, and even an occasional pornography film. Social media is not necessarily a negative thing, it can help people become comfortable enough to step out and be themselves. It also causes many people to act like something they’re not because it is what society say is in at the moment (Eleuteri and Verrastro, 2017). For example, when you look at rappers like Nicki Minaj who rapped about being bisexual and posted provocative things, more women started to come out as bisexual and relate to her. Religion When looking at religions like Christianity and Islam, sexuality is only accepted when it is between a married man and woman. These religions look down on the act of fornication and homosexuality. For example, most homosexual Christians tend to hide their sexuality for years because they feel as though they will never be accepted by their lord and savior. When reading the bible, it states that homosexuality is an abomination. Most homosexuals avoid their beliefs because they feel homosexuality is not a choice (Armour, 2010). If a person believes in the bible, then the history is there. For example, the history of the bible tells that homosexuals will not be accepted; therefore, many men and women choose to keep their desires quiet.
