By adding additional nurses to the staff, it will become added costs to the facilities, that will have to be budgeted for, however once the long term savings is realized by decreases in the adverse outcomes, these minor added costs will prove most necessary.Identify stakeholder groups that would support this bill
Nurses, Doctors, patients and their families, the communities served as well as thehospital corporations and stakeholders, would all be in favor of supporting this bill. Insurance companies may be opposed to this bill, because they are in favor of decreasing patient length of stay, and moving people through to have the least costs for them as possible. RECOMMENDATIONMake an appointment with your legislator to discuss your proposalWhile many nurses want to go back to school and increase their education and knowledge, many are not able to due to financial restrictions. Offering grants as well as education incentives, will help attract people to the profession, and loan forgiveness can help experienced nurses return to school to reach higher levels of education. Ultimately, this country needs well trained nurses to be on the frontlines of healthcare, and the government should be doing everything in it’s power to retain nurses and prevent burnout, so that the people of our country feel safe and well cared for should they ever need medical services.
