As a Licensed Professional Counselor, you are responsibility to completed 3,000 hours of
supervised professional practice under another lawful jurisdiction (NCBLPC, 2017). Out of those
3,000 hours 2,000 of those hours must be direct counseling with a supervised professional.
During this process no more than 40 hours per week can be used for these hours. Counselors will
need 100 hours of clinical supervision, while 75 of these hours are required to be individual.
Typical about 498 applicates are processed per month.
Overall the application and exam process may seem like a lot of information to keep up
with; which is why the NCBLPC is essential when doing this process.
Having a supervisor
throughout the process will help guide the counselor in the right direction and answer any
unanswered questions. Over the course of the 3,000 hours the counselor will gain skills to help
the counselor become the best Licensed Professional Counselor possible. Going over the
credentials process will help stay up to date on any changes that could affect the profession
