EDCI 3000 Course Syllabus Sections 001 and 004 Fall 2016 be well-prepared for class. All assignments and readings, including the class text, are due no later than 9:00 AM for section 004 and 4:30 for section 001 on the due dates. You will be reading a minimum of 5 novels this term so make sure you pace yourself accordingly. If you must be absent, provide me with a written excuse such as a doctor’s excuse or the remembrance card from a funeral. Please notify me in advance and arrange to have any assignments turned in on time. Emailed assignments must be submitted on-time regardless of absence. Excuses for the presentations will be given only for the reasons stated in the university handbook and must be made up. LSU GENERAL POLICY PS 22 Class attendance is the responsibility of the student. The student is expected to attend all classes. A student who finds it necessary to miss class assumes responsibility for making up examinations, obtaining lecture notes, and otherwise compensating for what may have been missed. The course instructor will determine the validity of a student's reason(s) for absences and will assist those students who have valid reasons. Valid reasons for absences include: 1. Illness 2. Serious family emergency 3. Special curricular requirements such as judging trips or field trips 4. Court-imposed legal obligations such as subpoenas or jury duty 5. Military obligations 6. Serious weather conditions 7. Religious holidays 8. Participation in varsity athletic competitions or university musical events The student is responsible for providing documentation of the reason for absence, if such is required by the instructor. Should the instructor and student disagree over the validity of a reason for an absence, the student has the right to appeal the instructor's decision according to the general appeal procedure in PS-48.
