There are more than 1 million employees who are working full time at the NHS organization. The total amount of money spending in the health sector in England is around 124 billion pounds where 110 billion pounds is spent on NHS itself. NHS England data points out that at least 80 trusts were affected by the WannaCry ransomware. That was 30% of the total number of NHS organisation disrupted. There were around 7000 appointments cancelled due to the attack between 12 and 18 May 2017. In details, at least 139 patients who had an urgent appointment for potential cancer were not able to attend their first appointment. Electronic patient record and clinical systems which were also infected by the WannaCry were unavailable causing impact on thousands of clinics and GP practices (Smart 2018).
