Chiu & Weisserman LLP The Company " Dollarama Inc., through its subsidiaries, owns and operates a chain of dollar stores in Canada. Its dollar stores offer a range of private label and branded products, including everyday consumer products, general merchandise, and seasonal items. As of January 29, 2012, the company operated 704 Dollarama dollar stores. Dollarama Inc. was formerly known as Dollarama Capital Corporation and changed its name to Dollarama Inc. in September 2009. The company was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in Montreal, Canada." - www.capitaliq.com Important activities and transactions conducted by the company Dollarama stores average approximately 10,000 square feet and offer a targeted mix of merchandise at compelling values, including nationally branded and private label products. Dollarama stores offer a broad range of quality consumer products and general merchandise for everyday use. Seasonal merchandise is usually located to the right of the entrance—wrapping supplies, cards, toys, disposable plates and glasses, and so on. They are the kind of items that many other retailers try to shoehorn in as an afterthought. Also, there's a great selection of pet food dishes, electronics, gardening and home supplies . At Dollarama, keeping up with the seasons and the celebrations that go with them is a big priority—at one downtown Toronto store on mid February, the last of the items festooned with red and white hearts were replaced with fuzzy pastel Easter bunnies and the like. . Their merchandise is sold in individual or multiple units at select fixed price points up to $2.00. However, their strategy is to grow sales, net earnings and cash flow by building upon their position offering a compelling value proposition on a wide variety of everyday merchandise to a broad base of customers. Sales Dollarama Stores recognize sales at the time of customer’s payment and takes possession of the merchandise. All sales are final, as the sales consist mainly of comparable store sales and new store sales. They have historically experienced limited seasonal fluctuations in sales and expect this trend to last. In addition, Dollarama generated around 28 % of 2011 sales during the fourth quarter because of the Christmas selling season.
