C is correct because in both the subcutaneous and visceral portions of thegraph, there is a significant difference in the LPS groups in comparison to the CT group. The LPS groups contain gram-negative bacteria because lipoproteins are found in gram-negative. D is correct for basically the same procedure. The LPS group has a letter b above it in the subcutaneous part of the graph, and is taller than the CT group which has a letter a above it, so they are significantly different. The HF group hasa letter c above it, so it is significantly different than LPS, and since it is taller than LPS it means that the LPS has less subcutaneous fat than the HF diet mice.
A is incorrect because the visceral adipose was significantly different between the control group vs the LPS/HF groups. This can be seen because there is a different letter above the CT group (a) vs. above the LPS/HF group (b). E is incorrect because both the visceral and subcutaneous fat bars for CT mice have the same superscript letter, meaning they are not significantly different. Sources: Vitamin E Studies hand out, Discussions with LAsStatement: Although I did not get a perfect score, overall I am happy with my performance. I went into this exam feeling very prepared. However, while taking the exam I got really nervous when a couple of the early questions I did not feel confident on. This is because I was not expecting “select all that apply” questions, which I’ve never had on a college exam; so I started to have a lot of self doubt and second-guess myself. To study, I attended every lecture, did the learning guides for each tutorial, and read the tutorials. I also attended a few office hours for different LA’s to make sure I understood all the homework. The questions I got wrong, I realized that I just mixed up a few of the concepts. To avoid this problem, I need to be a lot more secure in myself. I need to not doubt my knowledge, and actually go with my first instinct. I will continue to do the learning guides before attending lecture, and supplementing them with in class notes because I felt like this strategy really gave me a jump on memorizing the concepts before I had to formally sit down to study for the exam. I will continue toattend office hours because they really solidified my understanding of some of the tougher concepts I was having trouble with. Something different I’ll do this time is read over the performance objects. I didn’t pay any attention to them this exam; but I think that looking over them will be a way to “test” myself on if I really do know what / at the level of what I’m going to be tested on. I think something that really worked for me was making color coded concept maps from my notes. It provided me a way to map out what to know and ways to link them in my mind.
