NATURAL RESOURCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 6 degradation is at a high rate, there is the destruction of the animal's habitat as a result of uncontrolled cultivation and farming methods, and also there is the destruction of biodiversity just to mention a few (Salomone, 2013). Some of the approaches that can be used in the management of the available natural resources are discussed below: The top-down approach. This strategy is usually spearheaded by the government in collaboration with donors and non-governmental organizations. These include legislation that restricts human encroachment of natural resource sources such as rivers and forests (Salomone, 2013). For instance, in this case, the state and the NGO in charge should limit settlement in the woodland and near the stream basin (Salomone, 2013). Participatory approach. This approach involves integrating the locals or the community around in the management of the natural resources. It assumes that the locals are at the best position of managing the natural resources (Mitchell, 2015). The government and the NGO’s only step in to facilitate the programs that have been initiated by the residents. In the case of Ottawa, the students can be engaged in programs and initiatives that focus on the preservation of property 2. Conclusion In the past, the population was small, and thus the people were able to get access to the natural resources adequately. However, in the modern day society, the population have rapidly increased and thus overstretching the available natural resources and thus have created an imbalance. Therefore, the human race is forced to develop complex systems to control the exploitation of the natural resources sustainably and that’s why I recommend that the NGO purchase property 2. The property can sustain itself.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
