Reduced solution delivery time: By developing new systems/projects in an EA environment, there is a possibility for reduced solution delivery time on projects/changes made in the future at the DMV. This is because EA environments enforce documentation of all systems, which provides reference models for future projects. This documentation allows architects and project designers to use existing reference models for processes and technology, which will significantly reduce solution delivery time. Improved communication: Communication within the organization will also be improved by using standardized language that users, technology experts, and stakeholders can understand (Brown, 2004; Mathias & Jan, 2012). Many enterprise organizations have benefitted greatly from implementing an EA program. The following are examples of businesses that have successfully utilized EA to improve their organization: MasterCard implemented an EA program in order to better align their business direction and IT investments. To accomplish this, the company’s technology portfolio and business architecture became intertwined, which greatly improved their ability to prioritize business initiatives (Cullen, 2013).

The North American Aerospace Defense Command implemented an EA program to assist with process efficiency. When defining processes, it was discovered that many processes were overlapped, and therefore, redundant. Their EA program enabled their process redesign efforts, which reduced the amount of individual processes from 370 to 80 (Cullen, 2013). Dell is a popular IT company that also benefitted from implementing an EA program. Their EA team mapped out a 3-year roadmap that would lead the company to achieving its business goals. By changing their IT infrastructure and consolidating all of their systems, they experienced reduced costs, standardized technology, and improved process efficiency (Baum, 2012).
