o Intensive Care Unit initiatives will focus on the reduction of CAUTI rates. With the direction
of the ICU Nursing Director the most current and up to date research will direct the proper
way to insert, care and remove a Foley catheter. A task force of frontline staff will be created
to be the change agents for this process. They will help with the education, auditing and
posting of results. Education will be uniform to all employees who work within the ICU,
policies will be updated to support the evidence found and sterile technique will be a focus.
This will promote decreased re-admission rates, decreased complications and the possibility
for greater reimbursement.
