Especially in corporate America, time is of the essence and we understand that we live in a world of schedules and deadlines. As we commonly say, time is money. This is not as cliché as we think of it to be. Managing time is key to being successful in any career. Many cooking techniques involve specific time intervals for preparing dishes. The making of many materials involves specific timing when under fire or when being chilled. The clock truly has impacted the lives of human beings across the globe.

Ancient Chinese Contributions 6 The fourth and most astonishing invention has been the compass. This invention is taken way too much for granted. Many people in our modern world do not see much use for the compass because we think of a compass being used in sea navigation. Wrong! If you’ve taken a plane, you have benefited from the compass. Even when taking a road trip, knowing which way is north and south will keep a person on the right track. The very fact that the United States would not exist in present day without the compass gives us a sense of how important this little invention really is. These are only 10 of the many contributions that the Chinese have made to the history of humanity. With the four most important inventions being the paper, compass, gunpowder and clock, I can easily say that I could not live without the clock. Not only do I look at the time approximately every 20 minutes just to know what time it is, but knowing the time also helps me coordinate my day. I own a small business and time is of the essence to me. When I lose track of time, I easily miss important events or deadlines that will hurt my business. Especially since I do bookkeeping and payroll, timing is very important. Just as this invention impacts my life heavily, all of these other Chinese contributions impact people across the world.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
