After we got everything set up my partner operated the projectile launcher and I stood behind the carbon paper prepared to catch the ball. We launched the projectile a total of five times. For each shot we measured the distance from the projectile launcher to the point where the ball landed. After we got the data for all five shots we calculated the initial velocity. Then we calculated the standard deviation to determine the uncertainty between the x- and y- components. Part II: For Part II we kept the projectile launcher at the same setting so that the initial velocity would be the same as in Part I. Then we adjusted the angle of the projectile launcher to 30 degrees. Then we used all of our data and the equations of motion to calculate the position of a box that would allow the projectile to land in that box.

Data The data taken below is based off of five shots from the projectile launcher. The origin for our data is the spot on the floor that is directly below the projectile launcher. Then we recorded the horizontal position from the point where the ball landed to the origin. After getting our data from Part I we calculated our uncertainties by using the equation for standard deviation. The x- component had a standard deviation of 4.1 cm.
