On the other side though, there was also a significant amount of people who cared neither for the sketchiness of the topic involved, nor the purpose of the commercial itself. Rather, a large majority of viewers seemed to focus more on the fact that it was intended to be funny, not serious. These people turned both Daniels’ tweet and the commercial itself into a joke and were able to laugh about it without worrying about the impact of such a topic. Overall, the “Belluminati” commercial seemed to hit its target rather well. It created a mysterious tone that wasn’t overrun by the parody aspect of it, while allowing for viewers to easily see what they were trying to accomplish. It put an interesting twist on how most commercials look and was very well put together. Ferber 4 viewers will expect to see more of in future commercials. Taking the controversial topic of the Illuminati and turning it into a “not-so-secret secret club” that only requires a dollar for entry lightens the impact of something that is viewed as evil and makes it non-threatening.
