Socialization. Parents will encourage their children to partake in activities that do not correlate with their traditional gender roles. But at the heart of it, it is still a anomaly sort of and still play into the gender roles because it is an anomaly. -Order theorist (functionalists): Gender promotes stable institutions. Cult -A group that opposes the beliefs of church and the religion practiced within it. A new religion. 19. “Barack Obama as a Ruling Class Candidate” -The ruling class controls who gets elected by controlling the media exposure and campaign funds. 20. Iraq -Lies given to the American public to validate going to Iraq: They found weapons of mass destruction. They were going to transform the Middle East into a pro-democratic US region. They would welcome us, the liberators. 21. Human Sexuality -A social construct. You learn to control yourself even if you have the urges. Find someone with similar preferences? 22. “Gender, Relationships, and Communication” -See number 14 23. “We Don’t Have to be Saints” -People don’t want to be activists because they would be ridiculed. Seen as a negative connotation. Activists aren’t being judged by their motivations but rather by their actions.
