I spent a lot of time inserting comments and just grasping the concept of how to annotate while reading this week required readings. Initially I rushed through the reading at first without annotating and honestly, I was confused with grasping the concept of what I read. Annotating and reading at the same time helped me understand what I was reading so going into week 2 I will be completing both tasks at the same time. I spent too much time focusing on making sure I understood how to respond to week 1 discussion question 1 that at first, I rush through my reading and didn’t take the time to grasp what I was reading. My strengths are reading all required readings has well as directions to assignments. The connection between critical reading and writing is to engage in a conversation with the text that your reading. To connect critical reading and writing its important to understand the difference between reacting to the text and responding to it. I read out loud and often I must read an article more than once. The way I take notes is old school handwriting notes after I read a article so that I make sure that I grasp and understand what I’m reading than on the second time that I read the article I than take my notes. I generate material by using a outline to organize what I read using headings, key words and flow charts.
