find myself hearing caregivers repeatedly saying, “They have no idea what it is like in the trenches, and they just sit around changing things for something to do” and perhaps I can have a better response to caregivers moving forward, that includes comments related to research and evidence-based practice. In hospice, we are fortunate to have a large population of experts, through national associations, who have already completed the research and pulled together data that supports better patient care and outcomes. I was unfamiliar with the use of the PICOT question, and it does make sense that in a formal manner to use the question, should a need arise or perhaps in either of the three remaining classes before I am finished with this program. Using the tool will guide me perhaps, with direction for answering a question related to future papers or assignments, as well as narrowing the search for data in a process development scenario. I certainly comprehend and always have understood why research is imperative in health care, and even a little knowledge and a better understanding for various types of research including qualitative and quantitative can assist me in doing department specific research. An example lies in a new process we are looking at for saving time, related to medication delivery,
