Alcohol and drugs also affect women, especially in the childbearing age bracket.
Alcohol and drug abuse can lead to childbirth complications or lead to a woman giving birth
to a child who has difficulties or is malformed because of the constant use of drugs while
pregnant. Everything that a mother consumes is directly transferred to the child, and it,
therefore, affects the unborn baby one way or the other, (
Thomas, 2013).
Other Physical
impacts of drugs include visual impairment challenges with performing a motor function,
which is usually categorized with shaking of the hands when trying to do everyday activities.
Diseases such as cancer, high blood pressure, cancer of the breasts, throat, liver colon, and
the esophagus.

Psychosocial effects are also heavily associated with Drug and substance use. When a
person is continuously abusing drugs, they can suffer from mental disorders such as anxiety,
depression, and stress. When a person is continually hooked into drugs, they tend to be
withdrawn a lot and usually experience hallucination s as the drugs start to take a toll on
them. Gradually it becomes difficult for the person to differentiate between the real world
and the fantasy world, especially for young teenagers. The feeling might be helpful, but it
quickly disappears after the drugs is wrong from the body, and that why a person will need to
get his or her hands on the drugs now and then.
Domestic violence is also an aftermath of drug abuse. Psychosocial issues such as
anger and intolerance are usually instigated through the use of drugs. This is when you find
that a man who regularly drinks end up bartering his wife and even children when they come
home late when they are drunk, (
Thomas, 2013).
Most of the time, they do it unconsciously
when they are extremely drunk and will not remember the same in the morning when they
wake with a hangover, but the damage will have already been done to the family. Drunk
family members also end up wasting a lot of money and resources on drugs and other
substances.
Solutions and Recommendation
Creating awareness for the children, especially in schools, goes a long way in
remedying the situation. Schools need to have programs through which they can educate the
students on the dangers of using drugs and taking alcohol, especially at such a young age.
This can be done in the form of guidance and counseling and holding seminars in the school
to educate the leaners. Furthermore, there are topics in different disciplines where children
and students are taught about drug use and their consequences. It's, therefore, the role of the

educators to ensure that they have maximized using this chance even when teaching in class
to emphasize the matter at hand to reduces the problem from spreading.
The second step that can be taken is being able to enroll in the already affected
individuals into rehabilitation programs. Rehabilitation is quite benefitable as it enables
people to be able to receive medication and also mental support that can assist in eliminating
their addiction to drugs and alcohol. In addition to rehabilitation, there is a need to enroll the
