The IHRC has identified the trafficking of human persons as a growing concern in Ireland. 38 The IHRC recognises that the Government is in the process of enacting legislation and developing a National Action Plan in an attempt to address and combat the problem. The IHRC requests the Government to provide in its periodic report information on what consideration the Government has given to the concerns raised by the IHRC in its Observations on the General Scheme of the Criminal Justice (Trafficking in Persons and Sexual Offences) Bill 2007 for its human rights implications. The IHRC requests the Government to provide in its periodic report information on what protective measures have been put in place to address the needs of trafficking victims. 10. Education The Co-ordinator on Follow-up stressed the importance for there to be a focus on the educational needs of the individual pupil within all levels of the education sector. 39 Such a focus is particularly significant in an education system that has an increasing number of ethnic minorities.
