Special Hazardous Wastes Universal Wastes A category of “less” regulated wastes. Universal Waste must be collected and disposed of separately from other waste. Examples are: Lead-acid, nickel/cadmium, lithium and mercury batteries (not alkaline) Mercury reostats/ballist Fluorescent bulbs (contain mercury) High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps
