The mission of Guilford county schools’ school social workers is that “students will graduate as responsible students in higher education or career of their choice”. Guilford County Schools attempts to also guarantee that each student in our their program has the advantage of instruction. Research demonstrates that over 1.5 million youngsters in the United States are destitute or living in circumstances that reason them to need to migrate routinely. Understudies who are dubiously housed have a more prominent shot of falling behind in their school work and face various hindrances to learning (Guilford County schools, 2002). Background on Mrs.Graalman For this project I had the opportunity to meet up with Mrs. Brittany Graalman she is the current school social worker at Jones Elementary and Northeast Middle school in Greensboro, North Carolina. While interviewing Mrs. Graalman she explained that she enjoys how her job is never the same and that she enjoys being able to impact the students she comes in contact with. According to (Webber, 2018) it is the role of the school social worker to support student attendance, provide intensive support for designated at risk students and lastly encourage students who have dropped out to return into a program that grants diplomas. Graalman describes her job activities as helping students develop social skills, identifying the barriers they are having within their education and collaborating with their teachers and other faculty to resolve these issues. She also is a member of the intervention support team at both of her schools . On this team she works as an intervening force to help her students to receive the help they need within the classroom and outside the classroom. One interesting thing I got to see
