When issues like this arise, cases can then be postponed and rescheduled. For the best outcome of the case jurors should have little to no knowledge of the people involved in the case (Costanzo and Krauss, 2018). Christian Perspective Throughout history there are many cases where there were jurors who were biased, or the publicity of the case set the tone for the verdict of the case. An example of this can be seen in the case of Miquel Pena Rodriguez. He was found guilty of unlawful sexual conduct due to victim identification. Rodriguez had an alibi, and much evidence proved that the victims did not clearly see their attacker. A juror stated that he was surely guilty because he was Mexican, and he has experience with Mexicans. The juror displayed his bias towards the defendant. This case sparked a reform in jury deliberations that would rid the trial of any biased jurors. The examples of this case go against the laws outlined in the bible. God tells us, “judge not, that you be not judged”

CHAPTER 9 APPLICATION PAPER 2 Christmas 5 (Matthew 7:1 ESV). By assuming that someone is a certain way because of their race or gender is wrong. We must exemplify fairness in all things and love one another as God loves us. The bible states, “truly I understand that God shows no partiality” (Acts 10:34 ESV). Lawyers must continue to be impartial and fair when selecting jurors. The criminal justice system will be more efficient and break down barriers when people can witness cases being handled truthfully, and impartially.
