35 The mechanical torque Tm and the electrical torque Te are considered positive for synchronous generator. Tm is the resultant shaft torque which tends to accelerate the rotor in the positive θ m direction of rotation . Under steady-state operation of the generator Tm and Te are equal and the accelerating torque Ta is zero.
