Being aware of our observational position out of one

Being aware of our observational position. Out of one scientific experiment comes one theory and many more questions. Science is underfunded and it continues to be funded less and less each year. I think that the majority of my learning would have to be based off the fact that we are so totally clueless and we have so much to learn as a human species it’s unfathomable. Science Deep Ignorance I liked this topic because it showed how little we really know. There are things that we know and they fit into our reality which is why we know them. We think that we know but it does not fit into reality. We know things but we really don’t fully understand them. And the one that really hit home there are things that you don’t even know that you don’t know yet. These thing hit home because I think that I know something but there is always more to learn about the topic and you will never fully understand it completely because new information will always eventually become available. Good observers Are we good observers? I found I was not very good at observing when I watched the video of the crime scene and they revealed all the changes in the background. When observing we need to take a mindful step back and look at the larger picture to try and observe from a different perspective. When we take a step back to observe from the outside we can see what is going on from behind the scenes instead of the main focus. I did not see any one of the changes in the video until the wider perspective was shown. It’s interesting to find how blind we really are as people. Please write a 150-200-word reaction to one of the following: a. The painter Georges Braque said, “Art is meant to disturb, science reassures.” This is a strange quote and I am having to break it into pieces to get a reaction. First thing I should do is define disturb which according to Merriam Webster online is: to interfere with: Interrupt; to cause a disturbance (Merriam-Webster, n.d.). Thinking of that I would have to say that art is meant to get an individual to look at things from a different perspective. To take a step back and look behind the scene for example don’t look at what is right in front of you and try to decipher what is going on inside of the art. Science reassures I think is meant to give us some sort of fact or proof of a thought that we hold to be true. It gives us reassurance of an idea or thought (hypothesis). I looked it up online to see what others may have said about this quote and I liked the one on yahoo answers that said “Art is meant to challenge the way in which we look at the world and our perceptions. All good art is challenging. Science serves to better understand the universe and the way in which things work. So in that respect science does having a reassuring effect.” (Yahoo Answers, n.d.).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
