Solution Manuals and Guided Solutions: A Warning Many, many, versions of Solution Manuals, Guided Solutions, and other online versions of homework answers exist for our textbook and the assigned homework problems. Like everything else on the Internet, these vary in quality. While the solutions can be interesting reading, they cannot help you learn the most valuable skill you must acquire in this class: how to get started addressing a problem. Do not use Solution Manuals, Guided Solutions, other online solutions, or the homework of others, to complete your homework. Homework gives you the opportunity to practice what you have learned. You need this practice so you can do well on quizzes and exams. You gain nothing by copying others’ work (our homework is graded based on effort, not right and wrong answers) and you lose the opportunity to learn. Using Solution Manuals, Guided Solutions, or any other solutions to our homework is considered cheating and violates the Tippie College Honor Code.
6A:002 Spring 2015 Syllabus – Page 8 Rev 01/22/15 COURSE POLICIES: Things we do so the playing field is level These policies apply to all sections and all students. Your instructor cannot override any of these policies. Exams This class has two midterm exams and a cumulative final exam. These exams are scheduled as follows: Midterm 1: Thursday, February 19, 2015, 6:30pm-8:30pm Midterm 2: Thursday, April 2, 2015, 6:30pm-8:30pm Final Exam: Date determined by Registrar’s Office in mid-February Write these exam times in your calendar now, so that you can proactively manage any conflicts. You must attend our assigned final exam time. Family vacations, personal desires to leave campus early, and just wanting the semester to be over are not valid excuses for makeup exams. Your final exam time will not be assigned until mid-February. Because our final exam time could be as early as 7:30am on Monday, May 11, or end as late as 10:00pm on Friday, May 15, you must plan to be on campus and available through 10:00pm on Friday, May 15, 2015, until our final exam time is announced by the registrar. If you are taking a course that regularly meets during our midterm exam time, you must schedule a make-up exam for this course. University policy states that regularly scheduled courses take precedence over midterm exams administered outside of class time. Due to the number of students taking the course, we may use several rooms to administer the exams. Your assigned location will be posted on ICON and announced in class. When taking the exams: Bring your student ID, a non-programmable calculator, and a No. 2 pencil. Do not use a graphing or other programmable calculator. Do not use cell phones, PDAs, or headphones during the exam. Doing so will result in a grade of zero for the exam.
