around. An elderly woman using a cane to walk is already is a challenge but to know and go a great distance would make some just give up. The white man who was hunting that startled Phoenix. This was post-Civil War time frame but things did not get better for the black enough to be walking around in the woods. The hunter wasn’t out to harm Phoenix however he did do some questionable actions. The hunter point the rifle at Phoenix was seen as a go home moment. Who would consider going a great distance knowing that anytime you could be easily be shot and at that time nobody would be out in the woods looking for an old black elderly woman. The hunter did not see pride or how determine Phoenix was. He only saw a weak silly old lady that should be careful and go home because she has no power and simply helpless. Poverty is a huge hurdle for Phoenix. Seeing that Phoenix is walking a great distance, Seen as a charity case and always looking for handouts, and has no real cane would have never happen is she had resources to survive with. She would have not encountered any of the issues or negative situation if she had money. Being poor has brings negative attention and poor assumptions. As a Phoenix is a fire blessed bird that if fearless and deathless ( Rise of the Phoenix. n.d.) , Phoenix Jackson is fearless as she put her mind to a task.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
