Juliao 2 difficult to achieve during this period of time. This film has a variety of small aspects that make the documentary better. For example, I noticed at the beginning of the film when Pepper speaks about the “rich people” and hollywood stars, a burst of images representing this group begin to take presence. The curious thing is that all of the people in the images are of white race. I believe that Livingston implemented this strategy on purpose to emphasize the magnitude of the minorities featuring the film (mainly black homosexuals). Now, at first I had trouble identifying why the film was titled “Paris is Burning” since the film takes place in New York city, but as the interviews progressed, we find out that “Paris” was the name of a famous drag queen who had won trophies in a ball and later on had a ball named after, which was very common. This ball was one of the main focuses of the movie and is where most of the interviews were taken. One of the best characteristics of the movie is that it is both formal and informal.
