reach deadlines, and this sometimes has me feeling burnt out. An example of when I neglect
myself is when I receive compliments from my peers. I receive compliments all the time for my
hard work and the way I am organized, however immediately I brush the compliments aside and
move on to the next topic. I am not a fan of being the person receiving the attentions within my
peer work group.
Another weakness I portray is an abuse of power with certain job tasks. I am very
detailed oriented, and like things done a certain way, if there is something that messes up my day,
I get a little defensive and upset. I am very grounded on my procedures and will let my peers
know if something doesn’t go the way I have planned it. One example in my position is the way
certain jobs are filed away. When my supervisor received her work promotion, she passed on one
of the job tasks to me. I streamlined the process and made it easy for everyone in our department

to understand and follow. When our department had a shift in job position, one person was not
grasping the process, and I had to train her more than once. I was very protective of the process I
developed because it worked for the rest of my peers. It took a couple of times to train my peer
on the process and afterward she was able to follow the process, and she also resolved her
differences on the job filing process. Similar to a transformational leader, I like to develop easier
processes that everyone can follow. “Transformational leaders clarify the role and task
requirements, initiate structure, and try to be considerate” [ CITATION Ric14 \l 1033 ].
And lastly, because Transformational leaders are detail oriented and prefer to handle tasks
on their own, I prefer to perform my own tasks.
I like to have control over the details and fear
that the next person may miss a step. One example of this is a process that I handle every
morning; this task includes notifying Medicare of a Hospice admission. I fear that if I allow
someone else to perform this notification to Medicare, they may make a mistake and it could
become costly. Because this task requires a certain skill, I prefer to handle every aspect from start
to finish. This task is something that if not done correctly can cost the organization thousands of
dollars. As a transformational leader, delegation is something that I need to work on. “Great
leaders delegate power to their followers in order to operationalize their vision into reality and
give confidence to their followers to accomplish their work with maximum efforts” [ CITATION
Ali11 \l 1033 ]
A2c: Theory-Based Changes
Because Transformational leaders are often seen as role models, they must carry
enthusiasm because they are often judged by their character, actions, and behaviors [ CITATION
Bot14 \l 1033 ]. Because I love to joke around a lot, I should be careful and carry a more

professional manner with my peers. This would let others know that I can be serious and
professional when needed. I feel that because I like to make everyone around me feel
