employee may be considered probationary for six months, or even a year.” This is a faulty comparison; private, predominantly at-will employment only has “probationary periods” out of convenience or procedure; it is not codified into law like it is for teachers, and it is far easier to fire someone who is privately employed than it is to fire someone who is employed as a teacher. This faulty reasoning by pro-tenure advocates remains unconvincing, and tenure should still be opposed on the same grounds as mentioned before. Tenure places many harmful limits on education. It not only results in bad teachers being retained, but also costs schools copious amounts of money, and impacts the economically unfortunate the most. Teacher tenure is not merely something that protects the jobs of our educators; it is a crucial roadblock on the path to improving education nationwide.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
