exact. I think I would be able to teach the employees and we would grow as a unit however I would not be able to disciple in the way that is needed within a law firm. Mr. Parry is a combination of a authoritarian leader and a coaching leader (Sullivan, 2018). As odd of a combination as that may seem, he embodies it. In law you are required to be exact in all areas, because of this they must lead with an authoritarian structure, however Mr. Parry mentors his employees. He guides them in their tasks and teaches them along the way. He provides positive feedback and constructive criticism. However the processes and paperwork must be exact. There is no room for interpretation within the courts system, as far as the work his employees are doing, is concerned. These leadership styles work well within the legal practice. His work flows easily and his employees respect and trust him. Professional Development As much as I enjoyed shadowing Mr. Parry, I don’t think I would enjoy his position. The law is black and white; there is no grey. Working in the emergency department I see grey all day long. I have learned that people and situations are unique. Within the law you don’t get to see that, you see situations as black and white; within the law or not within the law. In order for me to be successful in this position, I would have 3
