opportunities. Associates rave about the culture, but acknowledge that it’s more collegial than social, and they find the mentoring helpful but training to be rather simple. 283 Vault Guide to the Top 100 Law Firms, 2018 Edition AKIN GUMP STRAUSS HAUER & FELD LLP Satisfaction • “Akin provides a lot of partner time for associates, and when you’re working late, the partners are in the trenches with you. There are also a lot of firm events covering a wide range of professional development topics (from CLEs to business development skills) and purely social affairs (lunches, diversity/cultural events, etc.). It’s a very good balance, and makes for a great place workplace.” • “A collegial atmosphere where we do interesting work for, by and large, friendly, humane, and approachable partners.” • “The people I work with are phenomenally smart and generally people I get along with. There are a few bad apples, but not anywhere near the horror stories I’ve heard about other firms.” • “I feel like I am being given challenging work in a competitive practice that pushes me to grow as an attorney; it’s a very satisfying work environment.” Firm Culture • “Akin Gump prides itself on collegiality, and I think that is a genuine tenant of the institution. However, the office does not prioritize social opportunities outside of work.” • “The firm is what you make it—many people socialize and get drinks together, others prefer to stay in their offices and get work done.” Associate/Partner Relations • “The partners are generally approachable, helpful and genuinely interested in associate development. The firm holds presentation on firm finances, but there is a lack of transparency in internal promotion. Performance reviews are also not completely reliable.” • “Vast majority of the partners are very nice and seem to want to get to know the associates and improve their work.” • “The partners are generally very respectful of associates’ ideas and time. I always feel like my input is taken seriously, that those above me feel comfortable entrusting

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
