• “I am satisfied with my compensation. The firm’s rates are competitive with other large law firms, and in addition we received bonuses on a sliding-scale basis based on billable hours and other involvements.” • “Firm compensates at market rate. Bonuses are also competitive. However, not all associates meet hours and are then not eligible for bonuses.” • “Base compensation went up last summer to stay consistent with the market. Completely satisfied with that. Bonus news is uncertain still, but seems ok so far.” • “Salary is market level. The only things are: (a) bonuses get paid long after the end of the calendar year, which is unfortunate considering that many comparable firms pay out bonuses in December, and (b) bonuses are tied to a 2000 hour goal, while other comparable firms do not have a billable hour requirement for bonuses.” Quality of Work • “I have found the work to be very substantive and appropriate given my level. Additionally, I have been given several oppor- tunities to take on slightly more advanced work, which has been very helpful to my growth as an attorney.” • “There are opportunities for young associates to take on substantive and challenging work early on if they seek them out. Associates at my level regularly manage multi- jurisdictional diligence teams and sophisticated diligence projects as well as assist in drafting main and ancillary transaction documents.” • “As a first-year, it was actually two whole months before I even did my first due diligence assignment. I have been given many opportunities to draft basic contracts, appropriate for my experience and to provide input into other aspects of the M&A process.” • “I work on complex, substantive legal work. The partners do a good job of assigning work that is challenging at times, but they have reasonable expectations and a good grasp of what the associate can handle.”

While we have a formal mentoring program that provides each junior/new associate with an assigned mentor, there is also informal mentoring that takes place among associates.” • “We have interoffice corporate and securities webinars generally at least once a month, although the value added of those presentations can vary greatly from presentation to presentation. As for informal training, some partners are better than others at teaching associates how to improve skills such as contract drafting. The firm also has a mentoring program whereby associates are paired with a more senior associate (or partner of a senior associate) and provides for once a month lunch or coffee meetings for the first year. After that, mentors can be leaned on as valuable sources of information regarding internal firm politics and expectations.” • “There is a lot of training, both in substantive (i.e. CLE

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
