Scenario 1:Wilson is a new social worker at a domestic violence shelter for women and children. His duties are to evaluate/collect data of the clients and create/maintain a plan to help the clients meet their objectives. Over time, Wilson has become comfortable with using technology with his clients and has connected withhis clients via social media. One day while working, Wilson overhears the idle chatter of one of his clients, which causes him to suspect she may be dating her pass abuser and will be getting back with him. With this information, Wilson retreats to his office and goes directly to his computer to check his client's social media profile without her knowledge and confirms the rumors that she is indeed seeing her ex and will be moving in with him.Wilson becomes concerned that his client's wellbeing and treatment plan may become disrupted by what he believes would be a poor decision. Wilson brings up his findings to his client in their meeting, and the client feels betrayed and deceived. The client was offended, and Wilson violated ethical code as a social worker should obtain the client's permission before conveying a search of his client (NASW, 2017, 1.04i).
