The Family The artist who created this artwork, Marisol Escobar, had a difficult family past. Marisol Escobar’s mother passed away when Escobar was only 11 years old (Berman). She was then moved around to many different schools (Berman). This lack of parental guidance and the fact that her father was never there for her, could be why Escobar decided to portray families in her artworks in her later years. She decided to create these fantastical figures as a response to the family and marriage situations of her time period (Berman). Escobar’s intention was to
