Ever since the end of World War II, tremendous progress has been made in the proliferation of human rights norms all over the world. Human rights and humanitarian activities have been affected both negatively and positively due to globalization. The idea of universality vs. cultural relativism can bring about backlash, due to the sentiments of certain people that feel human rights norms to be of Western norms that do not reflect upon their cultural norms.
