If the particular affirmative claim that some athletes are domestic abusers is false, then that is saying that there are not any athletes that are domestic abusers. This would make the particular negative claim, some athletes are not domestic abusers, true. Thus, a subcontrary relationship. By making one of the universal claims true, the particular would be true. If all athletes are domestic abusers, then some athletes are domestic abusers. If those are true, then the universal negatives that all athletes are not domestic abusers is false which makes the particular negative false as well.
