was moderate achieved pain relief responses compared with migraines that were treated while baseline headache pain intensity was severe. (Enlarge Image) Figure 3. Pain relief outcomes stratified by patient age and migraine headache pain intensity at baseline. Patients treated a total of 6099 migraines (3051 in the 12- to 14-year age group and 3048 in the 15- to 17-year age group) with moderate or severe baseline pain intensity. A total of 3780 migraines were of moderate baseline pain intensity (1923 in the 12- to 14-year age group and 1857 in the 15- to 17-year age group) and a total of 2319 migraines were of severe baseline pain intensity (1128 in the 12- to 14-year age group and 1191 in the 15- to 17-year age group).

Pain-free responses were reported for 40.5% of all treated migraines at 2 hours and 65.9% at 24 hours; a sustained pain-free response was obtained for 38.4% of all treated migraines ( Table 3 ). Treating with almotriptan 12.5 mg while headache pain intensity was mild was associated with the highest proportions of migraines that became pain-free at 2 and at 24 hours and the highest proportions of migraines that achieved sustained pain-free responses (Fig. 4). Adolescents in both age groups reported a similar proportion of migraines that were pain-free at 2 hours and at 24 hours and that achieved a sustained pain-free response. In addition, for both age groups, treatment with almotriptan 12.5 mg while headache pain intensity was mild was associated with greater proportions of migraines achieving pain-free responses compared with treatment while pain intensity was moderate or severe. (Enlarge Image) Figure 4. Pain-free outcomes stratified by patient age and migraine headache pain intensity at baseline. Patients treated a total of 7941 migraines (4049 in the 12- to 14-year age group and 3928 in the 15- to 17-year age group) with mild, moderate, or severe baseline pain intensity. A total of 1842 migraines were of mild baseline pain intensity (998 in the 12- to 14-year age group and 844 in the 15- to 17-year age group), a total of 3780 migraines were of moderate baseline pain intensity (1923 in the 12- to 14-year age group and 1857 in the 15- to 17-year age group), and a total of 2319 migraines were of severe baseline pain intensity (1128 in the 12- to 14-year age group and 2319 in the 15- to 17-year age group).

In the 15- to 17-year age group, greater proportions of migraines achieved pain relief and pain-free responses in the treatment of headaches with mild or moderate baseline pain intensity compared with the 12- to 14-year age group, whereas the 12- to 14-year age group had greater proportions of migraines achieving pain relief and pain-free responses in the treatment of headaches with severe baseline pain intensity compared with the 15- to 17-year age group. Use of Rescue Medication and a Second Dose of Almotriptan Overall, rescue medication was taken by 334 patients (79.5%) for 1 or more migraines during the course of the study. Rescue medication was used for 681 migraines (8.5%) within 2 hours of the first dose of almotriptan and for 1999 migraines (24.8%) within 24 hours of the first dose of almotriptan. A second dose of almotriptan was taken by 306 patients (72.9%) for 1 or more

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
