Prostitution violates society’s norms and moral values. 6. Why do you think society and the media focus on street crimes rather than white-collar crime given the financial costs of the latter? a. I think society and the media focus on street crimes rather than white-collar crimes, because street crimes tend to be much more violent, which makes the crime more attention-grabbing. Violent crimes are more engrossing, so people tend to focus on them more. Also, white-collar crimes tend to occur at businesses. These businesses don’t want their image ruined, so they try to keep the crime out of the light of the media.
