This preview shows page 7 - 9 out of 13 pages.

Structure of the Virus Marburg virus is filamentous, enveloped, negative-sense, and single- stranded RNA In Marburg virus, VP35 and VP40 are immunosuppressive VP24 is essential for the virus life cycle. VP24 is bound to the ribonucleoprotein complex in the virion & influences the formation of infectious virus & may function in transcription and replication

Host Range & Life Cycle The Marburg Virus infects monocyt es, macroph ages, and dendritic cells The infection spreads to the liver, spleen and later other organs by blood and lymph flow life cycle begins with virion attachm ent to specific cell- surface receptor s followed by fusion of the virion envelope with cellular membra nes and the concomi tant release of the virus nucleoca psid into the cytosol The virus RdRp partially uncoats the nucleoca psid and transcrib es the genes into positive- stranded mRNAs, which are then translate d into structura l and nonstruc tural proteins. Marburg virus L binds to a single promote r located at the 3' end of the genome. Transcrip tion either terminat es after a gene or continue s to the next gene downstr eam.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
