A variety of websites such as http://www.careerbuilder.com, http:www.monster.com and http://www.hotjobs.com, allow applicants to submit their curriculum vitae (CVs) and permit potential employers to search those CVs for qualified applicants. (j) Temporary help agencies (2) The temporary help industry, which is growing rapidly, supplies employees such as word processors, clerks, accountants, 17 MNE3701/201 engineers, nurses and sales clerks for short periods of time. The use of temporary employees provides management with an introduction to individuals whose performance may justify an offer of permanent employment. Staffing with temporary employees is less practical when extensive training is required or continuity is important. (Any 10 marks) TOTAL MARKS: 50 5 EXAMINATION GUIDELINES PLEASE TAKE CAREFUL NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION. Format of the examination The duration of the examination paper is two hours. The paper will count for 70 marks and will consist of two sections: section A and section B. Section A will consist of two or three long questions and will count a total of 30 marks. This section is compulsory. Section B will consist of three questions, each worth 20 marks. You will have to answer any two of the three questions. These questions may be subdivided into shorter paragraph questions and some may be based on case studies. Please note that the examination paper will consist of questions that cover all the prescribed work. Make sure that you use your study guide, the prescribed book and your tutorial letters when you prepare for the examination. The examination will test your knowledge of information contained in all three. The exam will cover some assignment questions and the following chapters in the prescribed book; chapters 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 18, 19, 20, 21 and 22. Make sure you understand what the examination questions require of you and answer accordingly. 18 MNE3701/201 The self-evaluation assignments in your tutorial letter are typical of the sort of questions that will be asked in the examination. The self-evaluation questions are from previous examination papers.
