This preview shows page 3 - 4 out of 4 pages.

A magnet creates field with a strength of 3x10 -2 T and it rotates with in a coiled wire at a rate of 100Hz. The coiled wire is made of 200 turns and has a diameter of 0.3 m. The coiled wire has a resistance of 5Ω. What is the maximum induced current created by this generator? 53.3A 12) A proton (mass 1.67x10 -27 kg and charge 1.6x10 -19 C) is shot between crossed electric and magnetic fields with strengths of 100N/C and 0.2T respectively. After passing through the velocity selector, what will be the radius of the proton’s path? 2.5x10 -5 m

13) A 100MW AC Generator produces 12kV. This is sent through 1,000MCM wire to a transformer that is 100m away. The ratio of turns on the transformer is 1:40. After this the current is sent 2,000km through a 500MCM wire where it reaches a substation where the voltage is stepped down in a transformer to 240V. From here the current is sent to homes that each require 200A. Assume no power lost during this last step. How many homes can be powered? How much power is lost during transfer from power station to your house?

###### "Before using Course Hero my grade was at 78%. By the end of the semester my grade was at 90%. I could not have done it without all the class material I found."
— Christopher R., University of Rhode Island '15, Course Hero Intern

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
