· Action (CQ Action): ability to adjust or adapt behavior Action (CQ Action) This helps you to respond to diverse others in a way that conveys respect and builds trust and rapport and decreases the risk of miscommunication. Am I able to flex my verbal behavior? With my event I was able to adjust my actions, verbal ques and attitude so that all parties involved had a pleasant experience. I tried to make sure I was respectful on all levels of the meeting. The Handbook on cultural intelligence shows us that based on the above definitions and construct of CQ Cultural intelligence is more than just learning about other cultures or being respectful to them. My culture event I held taught me a lot about not just India but also a perspective on America from a person from India, the one lady thought it is crazy on the amount of meat we eat while she really enjoys the income she makes and the freedom to travel anywhere in the USA at any time and not worry about being abducted, beaten or raped. To learn you have to want to learn about other cultures, you have to go learn about them, you have to consciously choose to use what you learned while interacting with said culture and you have not only “talk the talk” but also give the nonverbal cues associated as well. This came very apparent to me more so after my event because of the new perspective I had now on India and all the religions in that country.
