They appear to be people of the upper class. The water is blue, still and calm. It emulates peace and relaxation. The lesson i draw from this painting is that water is a way to unify human beings. Everyone can enjoy water as a mode of relaxation or recreational activity, no matter the difference of their earnings, background, or culture,The painting Portrait of an artistshows a more modern way of life. It was painted by David Hockney. He portrayed his sexual orientation through his paintings. It shows the type of people living in the upper class in the late 20th century. We can see a man standing next to a pool watching a man swimming. The pool is next to a very beautiful background. It consists of mountains covered in green trees and grass. This painting was done in an era where society was beginning to accept homosexual relationships. The red suit the man standing is wearing shows romance and love. The white curvy lines in the pool is illustrating the water is moving. The clear blue water is romantic, inviting, and enjoyable. It is a way to forget their worries in life. I believe that is the lesson we learn from this painting. Water is meant to be enjoyable and a way we can forget about our hardships and worries of life.
