Unit 6- Social Psychology- 10 points 1. According to the fundamental attribution error and the just-world hypothesis, why would your person have his/her disorder? According to the just world hypothesis, John Wayne Gacy would have this disorder because of his past and childhood and it made him insane and remorseless. The fundamental attribution error however, would see it differently and overemphasize his exterior personality and undermine his dark, disturbed, internal personality. Unit 8- Treatment for Psychological Disorders- 20 points 1. Using your notes on the treatments for psychological disorders, pick two treatments you would use given your diagnosis for your person. You must have 1 psychotherapy (behavioral, cognitive, etc) and a biomedical therapy. The psychotherapy you chose must be specified (token economy, client-centered, psychoanalysis, etc). Be specific in why you would use each and how they would work to ease the symptoms of your diagnosis. To treat this disorder, in order to treat it, he would’ve had to go through behavioral psychotherapy because that’s the main cause of his disturbance and being in a peaceful environment will help ease the symptoms using exposure therapy. From a biomedical therapy stance, I would use drug therapy to help ease the symptoms due to the many medications the patient may be taking to help them.

John Wayne Gacy had anti-personality disorder (APSD) and he displayed symptoms of having no remorse while he raped, killed, and discussed his slayings. According to the DSM-5 diagnosis, he didn’t live up to society’s expectations. He was educated and appeared sane but he was very disturbed due to his past with his father’s abuse as a child. and to his mother Also, because of his heart condition, he was overweight and was bullied in school. Gacy’s brain was an example of the diathesis model. The diathesis model is when the mind is affected by the outside environment and biology around the person. What contributes to it is his abuse that he suffered as a child and watching his mother get beaten by his father. The constant bullying from the kids at his school also contributed to his state of mind being so disturbed. His superego was his diagnosed illness of ASPD which disregards others feelings. He was this way because of his father who also lacked emotions towards his wife and child. The superego is also the lack of his conscience. If he had one, and any emotion, he would’ve confessed to his heinous acts earlier. In the 5 stages, in terms of Gacy, in his phallic stage (3-5 years), he was abused sexually and the trauma made him confused to which gender he was attracted to and since he was sexually abused

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
