This program from Zimbardo's "Discovering Psychology" series examines the inner mind, including James' early concepts of the mind, Freud's id, ego, superego, Rogers' humanistic perspective, and Bandura's social learning approach. The video also includes practical applications of the self and self-image through interpersonal communication. Personality Insight Media, 1990. 30 minutes. This program looks at various theories of personality including psychoanalytic, humanistic, social learning, and behaviorist. It also investigates the five-factor trait model of personality and uses PET scans to examine the biological component of personality. Freud Under Analysis PBS Video (a NOVA production), 1987. 58 minutes. This is an excellent investigation into the development of Freud's major ideas with actual footage of him at work in his office. It explores his ideas of id, ego, and superego, psychoanalytic techniques, and the importance of early childhood experiences. Questions the scientific nature of Freud's theories.
