Dense CT -Dense regular: Bundles of collagen fibers running a few elastic fibers. It attaches muscles to bones or to muscles with strength. It is located in the tendons, the ligaments, and the aponeuroses. - Dense irregular: Mostly irregularly arranged collagen fibers. It will withstand tension exerted in many directions and it provides structural strength. It is located in the fibrous capsules of organs and joints, dermis of the skin, submucosa of digestive tract. - Elastic: It contains high proportions of elastic fibers. It allows tissue to tremble after stretching. It is located in walls of large arteries and the walls of bronchial tubes. •Cartilage: Features between dense CT and bone, they are tough but flexible. They are made 80% of water. Lacks nerve fibers and is avascular. Ground substance contain a lot of the glycosaminoglycans (GAG) chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. Contains collagen fibers and elastic fibers. •Bone: Support and protects body structures. Provides cavities for storing fat and synthesizing blood cells. Osteoblasts produce the organic portion of the matrix, and then bone salts (calcium salt) are deposited on and between the fibers. •Blood: Consists of cells (red/white) surrounded by a nonliving fluid matrix, blood plasma.
