Transforming work environments may be contingent on the availability of working equipment, and adequate supplies. Transforming the environment at the nurse’s station by making it ergonomically correct and providing safe staff levels whiles involving nurses in decision making as it pertains to patient care will ensure optimal results. Implementing successful retention strategies has the potential of being a fiscally sound investment while increasing patient safety, quality of care and nursing satisfaction. To effect change, I would enlist the department’s opinion leader. An opinion leader is well- liked and respected by their colleagues. They are highly esteemed and thought of as experts, making their opinions and suggestions valuable (Cronje & Moch, 2012). Someone like this has the ability to influence peers and promote change.
