TEAM TERM PROJECT –PHASE I: NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (NPD) CONCEPT ASSIGNMENT In Phase 1 of this assignment, you will work in groups of three-four (randomly assigned with # depending on class size). The objective of this assignment is to enable your group to experience a new product process from ideation/conception up to concept testing. This is a Brand Extension assignment which will give you an understanding of how best to build brand equity, as well as transfer a brand’sequity to new categories. The Phase 1 assignment has an in-class Team presentation component. Further assignment details will be provided on Course Site. TEAM TERM PROJECT –PHASE II: CONCEPT COMMERCIALIZATION: ADVERTISING & PROMOTION CONCEPT/PLAN In Phase 2, you will develop a full commercialization of your concept including a fully integrated plan of the Marketing Mix Elements –Product, Place, Price, Promotion. Included is a well thought out, creative advertising and promotion plan in order to bring to market the New Product concept your team conceptualized in Phase 1 above. Here, your plan must include the use of both traditional media (i.e. TV, Print, OOH, Radio), as well as non-traditional media (i.e. New forms of Viral and Digital (Mobile) Marketing, Internet, Blogs and Social Media Networking). In this phase, you will need to demonstrate that your plan fits within the overall Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) plan and the strategic positioning of this new product.
