Women’s rights are important and by using are power to vote we can select better representative and make changes in our community for the better. Use social media as a Platform Planned Parenthood is an advocate for women’s rights and for educating the community. This clinic has a community education and outreach program in which they present to a wide range of audience ranging from schools, university campuses, or any group of people that reach out to them to present (“Community Outreach”). Those opposed to the funding of planned parenthood need to be aware of that no federal money goes towards abortion services; the funding is used to provide care to all the different aspects of the women’s reproductive system. These presentations are meant to educate the community about the services offered by Planned Parenthood and other important topics such as birth control, sexually transmitted disease, male involvement and responsibility, healthy relationships, puberty, and gender identity and expression (“Community Outreach”). Overall Planned Parenthood strives to inform, educate the community in using safe and efficient birth control and other important factors of being in an intimate relationship. The services provided by Planned Parenthood range from contraceptives, pregnancy test, rape counseling, breast, uterus, prostate liver, and kidney cancer screening. This clinic provides general health care services for many women who have a low-income and this organization focuses on the overall well-being of the patient physically and emotionally. To spread the word
on how much Planned Parenthood does for the community social media would be a great platform. To start a social movement on social media would draw attention as to how important the funding of Planned Parenthood is. For instance Twitter has helped spread the “#metoo” movement which is people sharing their story of sexual harassment. In the case of Planned parenthood starting a social movement such as “#protectwomen’srightprotectplanned parenthood” would spread awareness on how it’s important for us to fight for accessibility to health services provided by Planned Parenthood. Constantly keeping the public involved and informed about any potential threats and the services provided at Planned Parenthood through Twitter, will spread how it’s important to vote against anything that threatens to defund Planned Parenthood. There are laws in place protecting the public's access to contraceptives, and the community needs to take action and vote against any bills that takes away others rights. This organization supports many low-income women; taking away these services would only result in more poverty and unwanted pregnancies. Planned Parenthood empowers women by helping them plan when they become mothers and it educates women about their bodies. Women have fought for years to have access to an organization that focuses on providing care for one of the most intimate subjects, their reproductive system.
