is why the melting point for MgO is higher, and why MgO is twice as hard 3. Draw and label band diagrams for: a. In doped Si   (p-type)      b. As doped Si  (n-type)     c. lead     d. diamond 4.  What are the major carriers of electricity in each compound listed in problem #3?  a) holes b) electrons c) electrons d) does not conduct at RT 5 For Si and As doped Si, make a plot of 1n   vs 1/t.  Pure Si is an intrinsic semiconductor, so I would expect no depletion region and a single slope

As doped Si is n-type, meaning that the carriers will be electrons. There will be an intrinsic  semiconductor region, followed by a plateau, and then followed by an extrinsic semiconductor region.  This is because there will now be two activation energies. 6. How many sigma bonds are there in a C 60   molecule? Each carbon atom is connected to three other carbon atoms, so that there will be 3 x 60 = 180  σ  bonds.  But, each bond is shared by two carbons, so there will be a total of 180 / 2 =  90  σ  bonds. 7. What is the carbon-carbon bond order in C 60 ?

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
