we’ve discussed in class. What does this movie get right about rock history? What does it get wrong? Does it reinforce ‘rock and roll’ mythology, or does it seek to undo a commonly-held idea about an era in rock history? A paper that will receive full extra credit is one that goes beyond being a ‘review’ of the movie you’ve chosen. Instead, it will show how the movie reflects or attempts to shape an idea about its subect and how it fits into the broader currents of rock as both a musical and historical force. Please refer to the section in our lecture notes (the first lecture posted in the ‘Content’ section) about the difference between the journalistic and the academic approach to discussing rock history, and err on the side of the academic at all times! Format of the paper: A minimum of three pages, double-spaced, margins no greater than 1.25', point size no greater than 12. The paper must have a distinct title, and introductory and concluding paragraphs. Due date: Tuesday, December 8, by 9:30 AM , at the time of our final exam. No papers later than this deadline can be accepted!
